It’s easy to get these two mixed up. Resin bound is where we mix the stones and the resin together before spreading them out. This creates a smooth, flat surface that lets water soak through. Resin bonded is more like a thin layer of resin with stones scattered on top. It isn’t porous and the stones can sometimes come loose over time. We usually recommend resin bound because it lasts longer and performs much better.

In most cases, you won't. Because a resin bound driveway is a permeable paving solution, it meets SuDS (Sustainable Drainage Systems) rules. This means rain drains straight through the surface into the ground rather than running off into the street and overloading the local sewers. This saves you the headache and cost of council paperwork.

If it’s installed properly with a solid base, a resin drive can easily last 15 to 20 years. We use high-quality UV-stable resin which stops the surface from becoming brittle or changing colour when the sun hits it. It’s a very durable choice for any Kent home.

Yes, we always use UV-stable resin. Some cheaper contractors use non-UV resin, which can turn a nasty shade of yellow or brown after a few months in the sun. Our resin stays clear, making sure the natural colour of your chosen stone aggregate looks just as good in five years as it did on day one.

Sometimes we can, but it depends on the condition of what's already there. If your old driveway is solid and has no cracks, we can often use it as a base. However, if it’s crumbling or sinking, we’ll need to dig it up and put down a fresh sub-base to make sure your new resin surface doesn't crack.

Very little work is needed, which is why they are so popular. You just need to give it a sweep now and then to get rid of leaves or dirt. A quick wash with a garden hose or a gentle power wash every so often will keep it looking brand new. Because there are no gaps like you get with block paving, you won't be out there every weekend pulling up weeds.
